Hailing from Victoria before moving to Queensland to advance her netball career, young defender Ash Barnett has been rewarded with her first Suncorp Super Netball contract in 2025 after impressing for the Firebirds Futures.
The versatile 188cm Barnett not only captained the Futures in the inaugural Super Netball Reserves in 2024 but was named the team's MVP.
Melbourne-born, Barnett has represented Queensland as part of the state 19 and Under squad in 2021 and in the Firebirds Futures for the past two seasons and will form an all-Queensland pathways defensive trio alongside Ruby Bakewell-Doran and Isabelle Shearer at the Firebirds in 2025.
Impressive height, competitiveness and a hunger for the ball make her a nightmare for shooters to play. Having already moved states to chase her netball dream, Ash is set to cross the ditch to gain experience playing against and with a different style of play. Suiting up in red for the Mainland Tactix, Ash will gain invaluable experience, court time and will have the opportunity to showcase her leadership.
