Carys is a tall and rangy defender who is fast and agile, she has been creating havoc for attackers since her high school days when she won the NNZ U18 championship with Auckland 1 in 2021 and was named Player of the Tournament. 2021 was a big year for Carys, as she also won the NNL with the Northern Marvels and after the stand out year she was then selected in the Northern Mystics side for the 2022 season. Becoming a mainstay in the defensive line for the Mystics, Carys was instrumental in the Mystics winning back to back championships in 2023 and 2024.
Carys played for the Southern Steel for the 2025 ANZ Premiership season, taking them within a whisker of the finals and earning herself the fans player of the year on the way. Rewarded for her outstanding year with selkection into the Silver Ferns main squad for the first time. Carys has just touched the surface of her potential and her ability to play on a moving or holding shooter, and the ability to read the play, creates headaches for all attackers. Her long limbs pose a threat over the pass and shot, making life hard for her opponents. A silver Ferns debut is only a matter of time.
Away from the court Carys loves spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach and online shopping. Bowel Cancer NZ is a charity she works closely with as an ambassador, after her mother was diagnosed with the disease at the beginning of 2024. Working with kids is also a passion of hers and she enjoys coaching and giving back to the young netballers.
