Now in her 4th year playing AFL, Janelle Cuthbertson has cemented herself as one of the best intercept Defenders in the league. Janelle joined Port Adelaide Football Club as a priority signing ahead of the 2023 AFLW season after playing 24 games for Fremantle Football Club for four seasons. Janelle was named All-Australian following her breakout year in 2021 after being drafted by Fremantle in 2019 and debuting in Round 1 in 2020.
Janelle is a cross code athlete, having played on the international tennis stage, ranked just outside the top 100 in the world as a junior. Janelle attended Texas A&M University on a tennis scholarship before returning to Perth in 2013 to focus on her career.
Janelle has a Bachelor of Sports Management and has significant experience in sports administration with roles in State Government, Local Government and State Sporting Associations. Janelle is currently the Commercial Operations Coordinator at Port Adelaide Football Club.
Sport has been Janelle’s life and a lot of what Janelle does is revolved around sport with self learning and personal development important to her. Janelle enjoys reading books and listening to podcasts about leadership/development/psychology-behavior, loves to cook and enjoy good food and wine (in the off season!), loves to travel, spend time with friends and family but her number one is her chocolate Labrador, Bentley!
